Generally our centres are open during after-school hours, offering classes from 4:00 pm \u2013 8:00 pm Monday-Thursday, and open for classes on Saturday mornings.<\/p>

Many locations also offer learn-to-read and homeschooling programs for students throughout the day from 9:00 am \u2013 3:00 pm.<\/p>

Our regular programs run at small tables with three students to one teacher. This is a ratio that allows for\u00a0one-on-one instruction balanced with independent work. Each student gets a chance to interact with the teacher as well as a chance to work on their own.<\/p>

We also offer small group programs and workshops with usually no more than 8-10 students per session.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Yes\u2014all of our tutors are fully trained in the Oxford Learning\u00ae system as well as having a post-secondary education. This answer has many variables. It depends mostly on what your goals are for your child and what your definition of success is.<\/p>

For some parents, success is being able to read and understand written paragraphs without fighting, for others it\u2019s getting an A plus on a calculus exam.<\/p>

Each child\u2019s goals are unique, and for that reason, the answer will depend on you and your child.<\/p>

That being said, to reach maximum cognitive gain, we recommend about 100 hours of instruction. If your child attends two 1-hour classes a week, it adds up to about 8 hours a month of instruction.<\/p>

Generally speaking, it takes about a year to reach 100 hours.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How much do children typically improve?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How much a child improves depends entirely on the learning objectives and the child\u2019s learning pace. It also depends on how frequently your child attends class.<\/p>

We measure success by identifying goals together during regularly scheduled Lesson Review meetings. Together, parents and centre staff set goals unique to each child\u2019s needs, whether it\u2019s recognizing sight words or mastering quadratic equations, or even simply not forgetting to do homework. Then, at the next meeting, we track progress. Are the goals being met? Do the targets need to be revised?<\/p>

The biggest indicator of improvement usually comes from something that can\u2019t easily be measured\u2014how a child feels about school and learning. Usually, after a few classes (and after the initial jitters have worn off), students start to feel better about school and learning. They are more motivated and more confident. Struggles become fewer, and attitudes about school improve. To many parents, this is the best improvement of all.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
